Preschool
Religious education is available to children who are four years of age. This class is held on Sunday mornings during the 9:30 a.m. liturgy. Children desiring to participate must be age four by October 1.

Kindergarten
Kindergarten religious education class is held on Sunday mornings during the 9:30 a.m. liturgy. Participants must be age five by October 1 and should be in the same school grade.

Grade One
Religious education is required prior to participation in the sacramental preparation program. This year fulfills the requirement. First grade students meet on Sunday mornings during the 9:30 a.m. liturgy.

Grade Two
Religious education students prepare for first Reconciliation during second grade. This program takes place during the 9:30 a.m. liturgy on Sunday morning and is open to all students in second grade or older who have previously been involved in at least one year of religious instruction. The celebration of first Reconciliation occurs in March. Parental support and involvement is essential during periods of sacramental preparation.

Grade Three
Preparation for first Eucharist is open to students who are in the third grade or older, have celebrated their first Reconciliation, and have received at least one year of religious education. Eucharist is the curriculum focus of the third grade program. Students gather for classes immediately after school. Busing is provided from the Harbor Creek elementary schools.

The Intermediate Program
Students in grades three through six who are participating in religious education classes gather immediately after school. Our Lady of Mercy provides bus transportation from the Harbor Creek School District elementary schools. Parents are responsible for picking up their children at class end. The following schedule is followed:

Rolling Ridge - Monday - 3:45 - 5:00 p.m.
Clark - Tuesday - 3:45 - 5:00 p.m.
Klein - Wednesday - 3:20 - 4:30 p.m.

Behavior for the religious education bus follows the same policies as that enforced by the Harbor Creek School District. Failure by a student to behave in an appropriate fashion while riding the bus to religious education classes will result in suspension of the privilege to receive this transportation for the remainder of the academic year.

The Junior High Program
Students in grades seven and eight meet Sunday evenings from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. in Sperry Hall throughout the year. These fifteen sessions are divided into three mini courses. During the seventh grade year, one of these mini courses, on Christian service, is conducted at Brevillier Village.

The Senior High Program
Grade nine students are invited into a two-year Confirmation preparation process. In order to create an atmosphere of spiritual reflection, the regular sessions are conducted in catechists’ homes. The process includes service experience, days of retreat, sponsor involvement, and liturgical celebrations.

High school students who choose not to be part of this sacramental preparation process can continue their catechesis with scripture studies.
